Re: CM Punk's Title Reign

I really think Ziggler's a pretty talented dude, but the WWE biding their time with him is the right move. Playing their cards close to the chest and pushing him incrementally has paid huge dividends... in fact - he might be the best pushed guy in all of wrestling right now or in the last couple of ...

Re: Don't scroll Down!

Morals are only based on the world in which they live. Tony Soprano was a good guy because doing bad things was morally accepted in that world.

And the Empire Strikes Back isn't a very good example. It's basically part five of a six part story. In the overall storyline, good guys win.

Re: JOHN CENA THE GREATEST WRESTLING PERFORMER OF ALL TIME?

Trying to do any kind of comparative analysis of something as subjective as wrestling will never be a terribly scientific process. Personally, that's why I don't try to construct a list. It's not a pointless endeavour, though, as it not only encourages people to check out performers & promotions th...

Re: JOHN CENA THE GREATEST WRESTLING PERFORMER OF ALL TIME?

Well, for one - the territories WERE the big leagues then, governed by a central executive body. It's basically like the conferences in college sports. The NCAA runs the ship, but the conferences have their own boards, etc. Now it's basically like the NBA or NFL. Vince just consolodated it under his...

Re: JOHN CENA THE GREATEST WRESTLING PERFORMER OF ALL TIME?

Wow I'm surprised people think i'm jumping off the John Cena bandwagon when I'm basically placing him in or very close to the greatest 30 guys to ever step into a wrestling ring. Only on Wrestleview I guess.

Re: JOHN CENA THE GREATEST WRESTLING PERFORMER OF ALL TIME?

Don't take my criteria to literally. It's not like I try to rate these guys on a sliding scale anymore and there's really no way to do it with any sense of objectivity. Like I said - I'm with you on most of the guys on that list. I think we can SAFELY say he's probably better than 5-10 of them witho...

Re: JOHN CENA THE GREATEST WRESTLING PERFORMER OF ALL TIME?

They're not so much DIRECT comparables as much as Funk is more or less a benchmark for the kind of resume that'd be considered a 'best ever' resume. If Cena (or anyone else for that matter) doesn't stack up well to said resume, then he's not a guy who should really be talked about as 'the greatest o...

Re: JOHN CENA THE GREATEST WRESTLING PERFORMER OF ALL TIME?

I'm very comfortable putting John Cena in the top 100. Top 50 is pretty reasonable. Top 20-30 is probably a real reach. Just when we're talking about guys like say - Terry Funk - I don't know if you can really measure Cena up. Funk was successful in the territory system. He was successful as a natio...

Re: 2012 Post WM Future Endeavors list

Sometimes guys with a lot of talent get released for nothing other than the fact that they can't get over. No idea why Masters didn't translate. Just sort of how it goes sometimes. I'd say Trent Baretta and Zeke Jackson are slam dunks at this point. Bourne will probably be the high profile pink slip...

Re: Wow

I think Lesnar-Cena and Rock-Cena are more or less two different deals. With the Rock, I think they figure they'll get him back and they know it's a limited usage type of thing. Still, they also know that despite the limited usage, Rock will show and will fulfill his obligations. As much as I like L...

Re: Match of the Year Project 2012

John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar, Extreme Rules 4/29 "Oddly incredible" is what my buddy called it, and I have to be honest, that about hit the nail on the head. This was some sort of weird genesis of BattlARTS meets a Vader dome match meets some wild southern brawl. I can't even really describe the match...

Re: WWE Extreme Rules - Discussion Thread4/29/2012

Sounds like the Cena injury is legit.

Early word out of the WWE is blown rotator cuff for sure - possible torn bicep to go along with it. That's a massive injury. It'll take four months to heal, probably another six months to get it back into ring shape. That's nuts.

And I guess the early stuff from Cena's doctor's and WWE is a blown rotator cuff and potential torn bicep as well. See ya next year, John.

Re: Wow

Yeah it's pretty safe to say this is one of the most uncomfortably violent matches I've seen in the WWE ever. And it was so good that I really don't understand why anyone would bother worrying about who won. I mean I can understand the case for Lesnar, but at the same time, how many times have we se...

Re: WWE Extreme Rules - Discussion Thread4/29/2012

Sorry kids, but there are just some matches where who won really doesn't amount to a hill of beans because the match was so incredibly good. Brock basically did in 10 minutes what an entire creative team and about 10 other very gifted wrestlers couldn't do - and that's believe in and want the John C...

Re: The Return Of Brock Lesnar

I'll have to start by saying, I think we are not too far off in terms of our opinions on what Brock Lesnar's impact can be, but I think we differ greatly on the magnitude of that impact. Hunter, what is the one idea that you have championed for years now? Taking the current John Cena character and ...

Re: The Return Of Brock Lesnar

Foley actually a unique case I'd say. He's a draw on his own, but he's kind of in this purgatory below elite level draws but better than normal guys. Probably helped by bigger stars in his era for sure, but ya gotta think he enhanced some guys after that, too. He's a hard nut to crack.
