Second round of editing complete. Now, I just need my cover artwork and to do some paperwork and formatting for the publisher and As Fierce as Steel will be all set to go to print.

Also, I submitted a special, prequel Gold & Steel chapter for a short stories book released annually by a local convention. So that's in the works too.

Right writers write Wright's Rites.

Good luck with the small contest and the publishing, Nucks.

The only way I can describe it, (finishing a manuscript, that is, not published yet) it's like running a one person marathon and crossing that finish line at the end. At the moment, no one is there to see your moment of triumph but you hope that someday, someone might be interested in hearing about the things you saw along the way.

So, writer people, can you describe to me your character creation process a bit? is it stream of conscious, do you go into the work deciding you want a character who's x, y, and z, etc.

That's an interesting question. With my main characters I start with a very basic idea of who they are and I let them tell me more about themselves through both backstory and how they respond to the environmental stimuli. I keep things fluid as they're being written. In the case of Orangecloak, for instance, who she became, even at the start of the book, was very different from how she started out in my mind. The more this character spoke and the more of her life story that was pinned down, the more fleshed out the character became. I think that's why this first book ultimately took so long to write (outside of life in general), I had a lot of characters to get to know with all had their own stories to be fleshed out before we could proceed with telling the story of Gold & Steel.

I think the next book could potentially be written more quickly.

Speaking of. With book one done and only paperwork left to be done in finalizing it and all the offices I need to call to do that paperwork being closed until Monday...I started book 2.

At this point now where things feel so close yet are so far away. It's a strange feeling, to be honest. One minute I'm proud of my work, next I hate it and I wonder why anyone would want to read it. There's no real happy medium, either. It's either I'm ready to show the world or I want to hide it away. Perhaps this feeling will go away after the first one, maybe not. I'll never know if I don't try, though. Who knows, it might do well or it might forever linger in the far depths of Amazon's fantasy section.

‘The Decision’

I’ll hold you to every word you speak
When a said defender of the meek
Begins to exploit
You will hear much more than just a voice…

World war three
Brought upon by corporate presidencies
Kiss world peace
Goodbye along with the loved ones that you keep…

Pins and needles
By the feeble
For the people
In god we trust
Armageddon
House and senate
Under menace
And for what?..

Peaceful protest, our ancestors taught
Somewhere along the way we forgot
I’m supposed to think
You know exactly what’s best for me?
The blind hand picked to lead us against
The truth this world refused to accept
I’m supposed to feel
You won’t devalue our nation’s seal?
No deal…

World war three
Preying on fears and insecurities
On your knees
Revolutionize the meaning of the word greed
World war brings
A new level of monstrosity
Enemies
Will be made of each other
Made of us all…

From the steeple
We, the people
As his cathedral
Begins to fall
From the ruins
We’ll have proven
No confusion
Not all for one…

Was one for all.

'RCO2R'

When I think to myself
Sometimes I get so low
I have no idea where I am
And to escape this hell
Sometimes I get so high
Gone is all the pain that I once had...

The drugs, they help to numb the pain
As the alcohol does the brain
And so, lose the grip on my control
Harder to keep my mind open
When I know my heart's still broken
Wish someone was beside me to console
I can't keep my eyes o...

When I look at myself
Sometimes i get so low
I have no idea who I am
Gateway to someone else
Sometimes I get so high
Gone is the pain I drug from my past...

I'm not afraid to overdose
Love me as I am, comatose
No one ever did when i was clean
If you're only leaning closer
To beg for me to get sober
Then you don't understand what it means
Then you don't understand me...

When I dream as myself
Sometimes I get just as low
What's illusion?
What's reality?
I'm sure I couldn't tell
If my pulse just flatlined
Does my heart deserve another beat?

Nothing's official yet (I'll know more next week), but I've been pitched the idea of 'Power Play' being made into a movie!

Haven't popped into this thread for a while, so here are some updates:

The latest word from the publisher is that 'On Ice: Power Play Book 2' may be released sometime in early to mid-October...around start of the NHL season. They're aiming to launch pre-orders sometime in September. A new cover is also being designed.

No updates on the 'Power Play' movie project...I'm guessing that isn't a present priority with the production folks. Of course, I authorized any kind of editing to be made to suit their on-screen needs. I'll post more once something definite is known.

Already working on the third Power Play series book, 'The O'Freels'. More than likely will be out sometime in 2017. I'm going to push for around the time of the 2017 Stanley Cup Final, especially if (when) the Pens make it back. :D

I knew there was a thread I meant to post in but lost in the shuffle.

Hopefully the movie project will reach the top of the priority list with the production folks, LC!

You're not wasting any time getting the next two installments in Power Play out there, you're a writing machine! Keep it up.

Well, as they say, if one doesn't work, they can't eat. Got to keep royalties rolling in somehow. Plus I don't want good ideas getting lost in the shuffle.
