Wrestleview NFL Thread
Yup, I didn't feel like dredging one up, so here's a fresh start for those who enjoy American Football.
And let me just get this out of the way.
Handegg.
There. We good?

Re: Wrestleview NFL Thread
Despite being on the other side of the world I love the NFL. I don't get to watch a lot of it (Sunday and Monday Night Football is on Monday and Tuesday afternoons respectively when I am work) but I follow it closely, I take Superbowl Monday off every year. I am a big Vikings fan so I haven't had much joy in the years I have watched it but I dream of the day they at least make the Superbowl.

Woohoo, go Vikes.
The bastards rip your heart out as a fan like, every decade, but I suppose that's just something you live with.

Yeah the worst heartbreaker was their loss to the Saints in that Championship game a few years back when the Saints obviously had a bounty on Favre. It didn't help I watched it with a hardcore Saints fan but yeah that was a gutting experience to get that close to a Superbowl. Amazing game though.

I'm more hung up about the 1998-99 NFC Championship game against the Falcons. That one still stings.

What made you or should I say who made you a Vikings fan Legend Killer? Just curious, not hating.

Re: Wrestleview NFL Thread
I kinda got into the NFL in the 90's after getting into the Madden games. Around the time I started watching it the Vikings had an amazing offense with Cunningham, Moss and Carter. If I recall rightly they broke some offensive records around that time and I love a good offense in any sport so I kinda started following them.
Kinda wish I hadn't with their lack of success but I am stuck with them and will never change.

Yeah that team got a tough break in the playoffs that year, though I think you are confusing Cunningham with Culpepper (sp?)

Fuck Dennis Green and him kneeling with 50 seconds left in that game. Playing for overtime when you have one of the best offenses in NFL history. Goddamn it.

Nah Randall Cunningham. He was the QB in 98 when they broke the record for most points scored. Man they went 15-1 that year and still didn't make the Superbowl. Gutted.Dynasty wrote:Yeah that team got a tough break in the playoffs that year, though I think you are confusing Cunningham with Culpepper (sp?)

Just browsing at Wikipedia and I remember now that 99 was the year I really got into the NFL. I was working evenings so I would watch the games in the afternoon. Kurt Warner and the Rams were awesome that year and were always great to watch.

Re: Wrestleview NFL Thread
You are right, wow I completely forgot Cunningham played for the Vikes. I must of been thinking of the year Culpepper and Moss put up huge fantasy numbers then maybe?
Not sure why but I was always a big Robert Smith fan growing up haha.

Yeah I have more memory of Culpepper around that time but Cunningham was there the first year I followed it. Culpepper could never quite get them through the playoffs. Robert Smith was great, I used to dominate with him in the Madden games and soon discovered he was just as good in real life. Retired pretty early if I remember right.Dynasty wrote:You are right, wow I completely forgot Cunningham played for the Vikes. Re: Wrestleview NFL Thread
Steelers need to cut 22 guys after tonight's preseason game against the Panthers at home.
Should be interesting to see who stays and who goes.
In other news, new domestic violence policy in the NFL: Automatic six-game suspension with lifetime ban for a second offense. Will apply to ALL personnel, not just players.

The way the NFL handled that whole Ray Rice incident is disgusting. And the only reason this new "law" was passed was because of the backlash they received. Absolutely disgusting.

Totally agree with every point you made. I doubt Goddell would've implemented anything if so many people didn't raise a stink.Dynasty wrote:The way the NFL handled that whole Ray Rice incident is disgusting. Exactly. It took a stupid move and lot of pissed off people to finally get the situation addressed.
