Actually I hope things stay exactly the way they are now in the East. If it went to playoffs today it'd be:
Montreal (1st in Atlantic, 2nd in Conf) vs. Pittsburgh (Wildcard spot 1) - This would be an AWESOME series and I could see it going a full seven games.
NY Rangers (1st in Metro, 1st in Conf) vs. Boston (Wildcard spot 2) - There's no way this rivalry WOULDN'T be a barn burner in a playoff series.
Tampa (2nd in Atlantic) vs. Detroit (3rd in Atlantic) - I can see this being a very even, exciting series right to the last game. No getting blown clear out of the playoffs for the Bolts this year.
NY Islanders (2nd in Metro) vs. Washington (3rd in Metro) - I like the Isles chances against the Caps more than I do the Pens. Yet this could be just as difficult for the Isles, as this is a team with little to no post-season experience.

Somehow I knew you'd have that sentiment.
Pens play Columbus on the road tomorrow afternoon at 2:00. I can't help how many more fights will break out, if any. At least one happens when these two teams end up on the same ice. One thing's for sure...there will be quite a number of Pens fans in attendance. Someone's got to make noise!

But of course, and hey, at least this way it could come down to the Isles and Pens for the Conference finals.

Well, it's a Happy Easter for the Isles, they won 3-0 over the Sabres.
The Oilers, not so much, it was a shutout alright, but for Calgary: 4-0.

Bolts got a shutout in the Battle of Florida last night 4-0.
Pens blew a 2-0 lead to the Blue Jackets with an ending score of 5-3.
Today it Part Deux of the Battle of Pennsylvania. Another game with Philthy. Yay.

Looks like Philthy won last night, this is going to come down to the last game to determine who sits where in the Metro division. It's very close and even Ottawa can't be totally counted out yet. Someone could get bumped out if they can reel in the W's in their last three games.

Do not get me started about that game yesterday. UGH.
Sens lost last night in overtime, which helped the Pens get a two-point lead they desperately needed. They COULD clinch a playoff spot if they beat the Sens tomorrow night, but I'm not holding my breath. In any case, they need to win these last few games.

Tonight is going to be very decisive for both conferences. If the Isles beat Philthy they'll clinch for a spot. Detroit need that W over Carolina to hold on to their spot and the game that all eyes will be watching: Sens and Pens. It'll be a deciding game.
In the west, both Calgary and LA are tied and a single point for LA can put Calgary all the way out of not just the division, but the playoffs as a whole. And they're both in action, the former against Arizona and the latter with Edmonton. Now with that being said, Winnipeg need to win against St. Louis of all teams if they hope to stave off LA and Calgary, as either of them winning and Winnipeg losing could put them out in the cold.
Going to be a very interesting night of hockey.

If Pens beat the Sens tonight, they clinch a playoff spot. I'll be over here praying to the hockey gods.
They need some serious wins NOW, or things are going to get messy with trades come the off season.

Ah damn, the Isles lost. They could have clinched it with this game too.
Also, the Sens won, but in OT, so the Pens are still holding the top Wildcard spot by a single point. Detroit also won, which knocked Boston down to the 2nd wildcard spot. This race is not over yet.

Holy shit, is this the Twilight Zone? The Isles lost and the Oils won. Minnesota also clinched their spot, the first wildcard team to do so. Winnipeg also got the win now have three points between them and the Kings, the Flames have two, so if the Kings want in the playoffs they have to knock Calgary out of their spot in the west division and bypass the wildcard spots, oddly enough. Going to be an interesting playoffs either way this year.

You better pinch yourselves to make sure you aren't dreaming. Go Oils!
I can't even deal with those stupid Pens right now, but since I'm a loyal fan (or glutton for punishment, depending on whom you ask), I'll be hanging in there to the very end.
Moving on...

HAH! If either one of us is a glutton for punishment it would be me, the loyal Oilers fan, a team that hasn't made the playoffs in nine years and have only averaged 69 points a season since that last run. After the great losing streak of November I was seriously considering just throwing my lot in with the Islanders entirely.
