Erm... That doesn't seem like an equal trade... A 5TH round pick? In 2019? That's... Yep, something doesn't compute there.

Also, Jordan Eberle is no longer an Oiler... He's an Islander! The Blue and Orange swapped players. Eberle went to the Isles in exchange for Ryan Strome. I'm excited for both sides in this trade. Eberle was just not playing to the level he can in the playoffs and never seemed to hit a stride during the season. Maybe a new setting will bring out the best in him and if it does, I'm glad it's with my #2 team. Maybe it will be like the Alicia Keys song, maybe those streets will make him feel brand new.

As for Strome, he's an excellent addition to the Oilers roster. Looking forward to seeing how he fits into the lineup.

Yeah, someone definitely got fleeced in that Schlemko trade.

New schedules came out today - the Golden Knights play the Pens in Vegas December 14 and in Pittsburgh February 6. The Knights and Sharks face off in San Jose on my birthday - February 8! (They have a few other games against each other too this coming season) :D

Last night was our offseason sim's entry draft. I got Shane Bowers in the first round (Sharks picked 19th).

The Pens did some trading too: https://www.nhl.com/news/penguins-acqui ... =278542340

Yep, that's a solid, powerhouse acquisition for the Pens.

So far I found this in free agency:

Sharp back to Chicago
Wingels to Chicago
Haley to Florida
Bonino to Nashville.

It's going to be a very long day...

Sharks sign Thornton to a one-year deal of 6-6.5 mil, depending on whom you ask.

Former Buffalo Sabres star forward Richard Martin dies at age 59 (from 2011). So sad!

Sharks have a new assistant coach...also a familiar face, if you will:

Marleau to Toronto, that's a big move for both him and T.O. and a big hole in the Sharks offense. Babcock is building a fierce team in Toronto, starting to look as formidable as the Red Wings of the early 2000's. With the ways things seem to be going with them and the Habs, I would say Toronto are on track to dethrone the Habs as the dominant Canadian team in the east.

Jagr tops the free agent list, but is taking it in stride, it seems: https://www.nhl.com/news/veteran-jaromi ... =281396148

Oilers lost David Desharnais to the Rangers in free agent talks. That's a tough loss. He brought the seasoned experience Edmonton needed.

The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Jussi Jokinen to a one-year contract. That's an interesting pickup.

Jags is still unsigned.

Jussi. I remember back when he was a Pen. :D

Interesting to see where Jags eventually ends up.
