Serena must have stiffed him on an autograph or forgot his name at the SHIMMER post-volume after party or something. He's got a straight vendetta on her. It's delightful

He has no qualms against appropriating Deeb's nickname and giving it to her opponent, nor accusing her of akullduggery without a shred of evidence.

Also, Saraya Knight is BUREED

Well, Aussies are the descendants of crooks and criminals, so it's no wonder the Queen Mum was able to handily vanquish them.

Saturday Week 2 October
SHIMMER Women Athletes Volume Fourteen
Frontier Fieldhouse: Attendance – 1,670

(1) Shanna & Tomoka Nakagawa vs. MsEerie -MsChif & Christina Von Eerie
MsChif (4:42) via Descrator on Shanna
This is the definition of getting work in for MsEerie, especially when Nakagawa isn't dialed in. Shanna was ripe to fall, and fall she did
Rating: C-

MsEerie celebrates the hella easy win
Rating: C+

We go to the back for our first backstage interview, as Allison Danger is with Serena Deeb and Davina Rose. As The Originals' liaison, she would like to pass along the following message: What she experienced at Volume Thirteen is just the beginning because before they are done, Serena is going to be giving that pretty gold belt back to The Originals.
Davina tells Danger to shush her mouth because she shouldn't talk to Serena that way, because she is the SHIMMER champ, but Danger just gives Davina a look that makes her hide behind her mentor.
Serena agrees though that she doesn't know what The Originals plan is here. She's beaten Melissa twice for the SHIMMER Title. She's beaten Mercedes Martinez twice too. And Danger, well she can't get in that ring with The Deebious One. So they're all out of people. The reign of The Originals is over. Sure they can get someone to try to do their dirty work for them but at the end of the day it's just sad. Because they're not going to get their hands on Serena's title and all they have are the memories of when they used to matter. Tell the girls good luck for her, Serena says as she pats Danger on the shoulder and leaves with her protege, as Danger fumes
Rating: C+

We check in with another location where Au Naturel are getting Melanie Cruise ready for her big matchup against Kellie Skater. As Heather Patera warms Cruise up and talks strategy with her, in saunters Courtney Rush with the greatest advice ever. Just lift her up and slam her really hard into the mat like you did me. She won't get up from that. Cruise looks a little annoyed but Patera tells her to relax and asks what Rush is doing here.
Looking ever so proud of herself, Rush just thought since they were cool now and all, that they could you know team up some time.
Patera says it's an important night for her partner and she's got to be in her corner so not tonight.
Rush completely respects that and she's not trying to get in the way of partners, but they're friends now and friends do favors for each other. So Rush did the favor of getting booked in a tag team match and she needed a partner, just for the night of course, and there's not a better partner than “Miss Natural” so she got it made official.
Cruise gets up and towers over Rush and tells her that the reason she doesn't squash her like a bug is because Patera said otherwise. Do not mistake her mercy for friendship. Don't mess with Heather, or she'll deal with Cruise.
Rush just bobs her head and points to Cruise while saying to Patera that she sees why Natural keeps this one around. She's a firecracker. She'll take care of her girl, so she can just focus on winning her match tonight with Skater. Rush saunters away with Cruise saying she's going to get it one day soon and Cruise is going to enjoy watching it happen, to which Patera knocks Cruise in the shoulder and tells her to cut it out and focus
Rating: C

(2) Made in Sin - Taylor Made & Allysin Kay vs. Athena & Evie
Taylor (8:23) via Eighth Deadly on Athena
Athena and Evie's momentum was quite short-lived as they get cut down by the buzzsaw that is Made in Sin
Rating: C

We are supposed to go to the back for an interview with Allison Danger and the Canadian Ninjas but Danger is far too upset with the disrespect she incurred from Serena Deeb and is on a tirade about her being crushed like the bug she is. When Portia tries to cut in Danger snaps at her that she doesn't care about the SHIMMER Tag Titles, she just wants to see Serena suffer and lose the SHIMMER Title and she rants that Serena wouldn't have talked to her that way if Melissa was here tonight, and goes on and on until Mercedes Martinez comes in to collect Danger and says you didn't see nothing.
Portia finally takes control of the situation and says the SHIMMER Tag Titles do matter to the Ninjas because the belts belong to them. They're the longest reigning SHIMMER Tag champions, they're the only team to hold the SHIMMER Tag Titles twice. They record breakers, trail blazers. True visionaries in women's wrestling. The Lucha Sisters are little girls who play dress up and live in a fantasy world. Well it's time for all the little girls to wake up and face reality. It's over for them, and it's time for the Canadian Ninjas to take back what's theirs. Portia looks full of determination but Nicole is still looking towards the way Mercedes walked off with Danger
Rating: C+

(3) “Miss Natural” Heather Patera & Courtney Rush vs. Kimber Bombs - Kimber Lee & Cherry Bomb
Natural (5:28) via Natural Disaster on Cherry
This was a cute little affair with the Kimber Bombs looking to throw a monkey wrench in the new friendship between Patera and Rush but their new found respect for each other was not to be denied, as Rush takes a Cherry Bomb Codebreaker to break up the momentum, which allows Patera to clear the ring of Kimber, then once she focuses on Cherry, she wins the day and takes her out with the Natural Disaster
Rating: C-

Patera helps Rush up after the match and tells her she's not bad for a partner. Rush gives Patera a big hug though she admonished that that isn't what Patera meant, as they walk out together
Rating: C+

We go to the back with Jessie McKay and Shazza McKenzie preparing for their tag match. Shazza wants to know why it's always them fighting the big, or angry people, or fighting against the odds. Couldn't Hamada or Su Yung or...well anyone else be the ones facing Jessicka Havok?
Jessie says she can complain about that if she wants but there's no point to it. If she wasn't facing Jessicak Havok and Sassy Stephie, she could be facing Made in Sin, or the Ninjas, or whoever else, because this is SHIMMER and there is no easy competition.
Madison Eagles comes in and pats her girls on the back and agrees with Jessie. There are no easy matchups in SHIMMER, unless you're her of course, because there isn't a person in SHIMMER that Madison Eagles can't beat one-on-one. And she'd love the opportunity to prove that to Saraya Knight, if she has the guts to get in the ring with her. And she'll go through each and every member of her group to get to Saraya and she'll prove that Commonwealths can take down Dynasties because
Aussies. Rule. Wrestling.
Rating: C

Before the next match we get a video recap of Heidi & Veda attacking Serena last volume after her SHIMMER Title match
Rating: C

(4) Davina Rose & Serena Deeb vs. Heidi Lovelace & Veda Scott
Serena (8:52) via Spear on Heidi
The law advocate of The Originals and her Punk Rock Paralegal aren't stupid birds. They work on Davina Rose to try to avoid the fury of Serena Deeb. And they almost pull it off but things fall apart the moment Davina gets to her corner and Serena dispenses all the holy justice she has in her, before splitting Heidi in two with a devastating Spear
Rating: C

Serena stares down The Originals after the match telling them they're going to need to send something better than this to slow her down
Rating: B-

Saraya Knight is in the back with just Nikki Storm flanking her this time and she is an unhappy woman today. Saraya is deeply disturbed that she did not bring her babies home and she didn't understand why. She beat those precocious brats back and denied them a place at the table in their Kingdom, but there is still unrest. She knows, she knows that her Dynasty didn't get rid of them but that is no reason to punish her and her girls. So there must be more work to do and the Dynasty will do it. But first they need to face trials, for their failures. Not Sweet Nikki though. No, she has always been a good girl to the Queen Mum, but she lost the gold so she must be punished. And her Irish girl, she needs to be kissed by fire, the fire that can forge new steel. That's what they need, the steel to do what is asked of them, and they must not let their minds be clouded by the promise of riches and rewards. They were wrong before and they were punished, but now the Dynasty sees clearly and failure cannot be accepted. Only the cries of mercy from their enemies. Cries of mercy that they will never answer
Rating: C+

We go to Jessicka Havok and Sassy Stephie, with Mademoiselle Rachelle. Stephie knows SHIMMER officials are looking for the next challengers to the SHIMMER Tag Champions, for after tonight's match. But they don't need to look any further. Stephie and Havok are the only choice and it's not even close. They're the best team, they've got the record, and they haven't had a shot at the belts yet. And if you need any more evidence to prove it, just watch what they do to Everybody's Favorite Girlfriend and her idiot partner tonight.
I only asked one thing of these two, Havok starts as she points to Rachelle and Stephie. I told them to not mess up and we could get to the top. Well they proved me wrong and I underestimated them. Rachelle and Stephie you guys might have hit a rough patch there but you've bounced back beautifully and now there is not a single team in SHIMMER that has the firepower to stand up to us. There is no weak link here, there is no soft spot. There is just a team that is beyond the conception of what is capable. A team that will inspire awe and terror wherever it goes. A team without equivalence in this, or any, world. You are looking at death, incarnate. And I would pray for whoever gets in our way...but God himself couldn't save you from us
Rating: B-

(5) Madison Eagles vs. Rhia O'Reilly
Eagles (8:27) via Hellbound
Rhia gets sent out on her own to take on Eagles and she acquits herself well for a good portion of the match, but she is not going to keep The Punisher down for long and she is eventually felled, like so many before her, by Hellbound
Rating: C+

Eagles calls out Saraya saying they have unfinished business and she intends to attend to it
Rating: B-

Dave Prazak is in the back announcing the arrival of Kellie Skater. He asks her if she's feeling ready for the challenge of taking on a focused Melanie Cruise and Skater looks incredulous. Of course she's ready because she's indestructible, she's the Colossus of Bacchus Marsh, she's the Rate Tank, man. Of course she'll take care of Big Melanie Cruise, just like she took care of Little Tomoka Nakagawa, she says making a high and low motion with her hand. Never doubt that she's got this.
Skater walks off confidently as Tomoka Nakagawa comes into the picture and berates Prazak in Japanese as he tries to defend himself. When she is fed up she looks like she's going to spit water in his face, to his enjoyment, but she swallows instead and grabs him by the ear, pulling him away in punishment
Rating: C

We go over to another location in the back where Athena and Evie are just finishing changing after their match. Athena apologizes for letting those hussies get the best of her but Evie knows it's not going to help to blame each other. The fact is that a couple of Volumes ago they split up and had success, and they came back together and couldn't get the job done. Maybe they should take some time to get their stuff right on their own, and then they can come back together and really show everyone what #TeamKICKHussies is made of.
Athena looks unsure but Evie has obviously thought about this and if she needs this then Athena is with her, but she better not go around kicking hussy butt without her for too long. Athena and Evie shake on it and give each other a look of determination
Rating: C

(6) Jessicka Havok & Sassy Stephie (w/ Mademoiselle Rachelle) vs. Aussie Rules Wrestling - Jessie McKay & Shazza McKenzie
Stephie (4:36) via Kiss My Sass on Shazza
This is a straight rout. Boy is it
Rating: C-

Havok & Stephie do not look very satisfied as they call out whoever wins tonight's main event and warn them that this is the fate that awaits them
Rating: B-

We follow MsEerie in the back, until they finally find their intended target, one Allison Danger. After MsChif confirms that Danger was paying attention tonight after they dominated...whoever they beat, Von Eerie lets Danger know that they want her to take a message to the SHIMMER officials that they are done messing around and they are ready for a SHIMMER Tag Title shot. Now.
Danger barely cracks a smile and wonders when they started believing that demanding a title match is all it takes to have one just magically fall into their laps. Because they don't. But Danger isn't in as bad a mood as she was earlier so here's what she'll do. She'll do nothing, and they'll like it. MsEerie looks disgusted and walks off and Danger laughs to herself because those idiots are already pretty close to a SHIMMER Title shot anyway
Rating: C

(7) Saraya Knight vs. Hamada
Saraya (8:33) via foreign object shot by Nikki Storm
Hamada is a formidable foe, as always, but she isn't going to beat the numbers game very often. Not when Nikki Storm is such a game changer. Hamada was trying to press the pace but Saraya stops that with a swift kick downstairs. The referee admonishes her, which Saraya takes advantage of getting the ref in the corner away from Hamada for their “discussion". As Hamada pulls herself up Nikki clocks her between the eyes with the Dynasty's favorite foreign object, and a short-arm clothesline puts Hamada away for the count
Rating: C+

Storm & Saraya celebrate their victory and promise sweet retribution against the forces that oppose them
Rating: C+

We go to Dave Prazak who is in the back with the Lucha Sisters, Mia Yim and Leva Bates, who is dressed up as a samurai. Prazak asks the obvious question and Leva replies that Nicole Matthews and Portia Perez purport themselves to be ninjas, well what is the ninja's greatest adversary than a samurai? And she is not just any samurai, she's the Hitokiri; the Manslayer. Samurai don't fear the tricks a ninja pulls because they have the skill and the will of heart to overcome all obstacles and cut their foes down.
Just then, Jessicka Havok, Sassy Stephie, and Mademoiselle Rachelle show up and Havok towers over the SHIMMER Tag Champions. She tells them that if they didn't hear her she will reiterate herself; don't get in the way of the Death Machine because there is no costume that can save them. Leva brandishes her sheathed sword and asks if Havok wants to duel right now. Havok and Stephie smile and tell them not to forget that they warned them to get out of the way. Their demise will only be their own fault if they don't listen. Mia reminds them the Lucha Sisters have beaten them once and if they want to go another round, they'll just knock them in the dust again. Now if they'll excuse them, the SHIMMER Tag Champs have a main event to win
Rating: C+

(8) Kellie Skater vs. Melanie Cruise
Cruise (10:32) via Cruise Missile
In a match that is ostensibly a number-one contenders match, Cruise and Skater go to battle, battering each other all over the ringside area. Cruise's impressive size is what carries the day though, as she's just too strong in this fight for Skater to position for the International Incident. Skater tries to find another way to take the giant down, utilizing her speed and it keeps Cruise off balance but after ducking a big boot attempt, Skater tries to run the ropes and hit a flying forearm, ala Tito Santana, but she simply gets caught and blown up by a Cruise Missile
Rating: C

Before the main event, we get a video recap of the Volume Eight match between the Luchas and the Ninjas where Leva and Mia finally ended Portia and Nicole's SHIMMER Tag Title reign
Rating: C

(9) SHIMMER Tag Title Match: Lucha Sisters - Mia Yim & Leva Bates (as Kenshin Himura from Rurouni Kenshin) (c's) vs. Canadian Ninjas - Portia Perez & Nicole Matthews
Mia (17:22) via Superhero Kick/Package Piledriver combo on Portia
This match almost doesn't get off its feet because neither Portia nor Nicole will get in the ring until referee Andy Long deals with that maniac Leva and her sword. Leva lets the ref inspect the sword and he finds that the sword is without a sharp edge so Leva probably won't kill them. This is a small comfort to the Ninjas, who eventually jump Mia and the Hitokiri Battosai. Once we get going this is a very spirited match, with the Ninjas trying to keep Mia at bay by isolating Leva. It works for a time but Leva does break free and gets her partner in. Mia wrecks shop on Portia and Nicole and gets them reeling, but the Ninjas make a last stand, including hitting the Funky Cold Medina on Leva, but Portia directs Nicole to get Mia up to do the same Nicole just drops her instead. Portia yells for Nicole as she walks out and in her distraction never sees the Superhero Kick coming. She then gets lifted up and dropped with a Package Piledriver and the Lucha Sisters retain the SHIMMER Tag Titles
Rating: C

The Lucha Sisters celebrate their win with hugs and holding their belts up proudly while Portia leaves the ring shocked, not knowing what just happened as Volume Fourteen comes to a close
Rating: C+

Final Rating: C

Oh boy, Serena is throwing all sorts of shade at the Originals.

Rush is trying to usurp Cruise?

"wonders when they started believing that demanding a title match is all it takes to have one just magically fall into their laps" Uh, isn't that how Wrestling works Danger?

A+ cosplay for Leva, and the Ninjas stooging for it was great.

Yeah, but when does demanding a title shot ever just work for a babyface? That's why she laughed.

And boy howdy does Serena care not about the bullseye on her chest

SHIMMER Volume 14 Reaction

By: Corey Johnson

Jason asked me to write this month's SHIMMER reaction column. He said he needed a break from "The fucking SHIMMER Bullshit", so he asked for a break. So, here we go.

The main event was a fun little match. I love how Leva keeps coming up with different costumes for each show. I haven't seen her recycle anything yet, and what's better is that she works her costume into each match. Mia came in like a ball of fire on that hot tag, lighting up the Ninjas with some crisp looking kicks off the back of some good selling by Leva. The Lucha Sisters have really stepped up their game since winning the SHIMMER Championship. I look forward to seeing them every month, both for the costumes, and the wrestling.

The obvious takeaway from this match though, is the dissolution of the Canadian Ninjas. It really is a shame to see one of the most decorated tag teams in women's wrestling break up like this. At least in their final match as a team, they looked solid, and had a very good match leading to the well executed angle to cap it all off. With Nicole continually hinting at joining the Originals, it's hard for me to say where Portia will go. Her antics are so ridiculous, that they could turn her babyface without doing much, but I don't know if that's where her strengths lie, but with the roster being fairly heel heavy, she's someone who could slide around as a babyface, or find someone else to team with against Nicole and someone like Mercedes.

Speaking of stepping up their game, Serena Deeb and Davina Rose both deserve mention here. Deeb has really shone as the SHIMMER Champion, and is a great choice to carry the belt. She's a great seller, the fans are behind her, her offense is great, and she's a good interview. What more could you ask of your champion? Davina's work in the WWE has really helped her. Her stint helped her find her personality, and now she's flourishing. Her character is improved, her ringwork is improved, and her interviews are improving. She's not near the title scene yet, but in a year or two, she could get a scattered SHIMMER title shot, and it wouldn't seem too far fetched. Lovelace and Veda looked strong in their match with these two tonight, but without help, it's a long ways out before they can stand against the champ.

Madison Eagles is just plain awesome, and the Aussies Rule Wrestling team name is starting to sway me a little more.

The same goes for Saraya Knight.

I'm not sure how I feel about this Patera/Cruise/Rush situation. It's definitely different, but it's a little strange. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's like, a little off kilter. I'll give it few more volumes to see if it makes more sense to me.

I have apprehensions on the breakup of Athena and Evie. SHIMMER needs their babyface jobber teams more than they need singles jobbers. With Made In Sin, Cherry Bombs, The Originals, Patera & Cruise, and Havok & Stephie running around, they need someone to claim dominance over. Evie and Athena filled that role perfectly, with their plucky underdog attitudes. It'll be strange to see where they go from here.

Overall, Volume 14 was a good show. I enjoyed the Champion Tag Team Matches, and Madison is always a gas to watch in the ring. Saraya's promo tonight was really solid as well. If you're a fan of SHIMMER, it's hard to be disappointed by this one.

That's all for me. Mr. Barkley should be back next month to review SHIMMER Volume 15 for all of you. Thanks for your continued support of WWW, and thanks for reading.

Now THAT is the women's IWC. Completely pitch perfect, even with the trying to find a way to not say something actually bad about the Athena/Evie angle.

And his thoughts about Davina Rose are exactly how I feel about her in real life. She was awful when she left SHIMMER before and now she's a real professional wrestler and it shows.

And it's definitely good for Mr. Barkley to take a month off. He needed to recharge his batteries. Good for him getting out of the house for a bit

Yeah, the women's IWC is super complimentary of everyone, even when they don't like something they find ways to sweeten it up or keep an open mind. Compared to watching the regular IWC, following women's wrestling on the internet is almost nauseatingly optimistic
