IMO anybody who can get a crowd going just by muttering the word "yeah" like James can, is a king of kings..

Robert Plant is probably my favorite singer. But he doesn't have the starpower of Freddie Mercury, when Freddie was on stage all eyes were on him. Plant is one of the greatest, but Jimmy Page was the star of Zeppelin. IMO.

No need for that. Just mention who you like and move on.

Axl fuckin Rose

No one else even comes close. As far as stage presence goes, and sheer overpowering performance, he takes the cake. When he was at his best, he was incredible and when he was at his worst, he was still good...it's a shame how the years have been to him now.

One I can't believe nobody's mentioned yet is Ozzy Osbourne back from his Black Sabbath days. Back before he started a singles career and a reality TV show, Osbourne was a god.

I would have to say Freddie Mercury, he had so much charisma and could really work a crowd and was fantastic live. I also like Shaun Morgan he is the lead singer of one of my favourite bands and has an amazing voice. Sting is another one i like, has great musical talents and a great singing voice. I like more but.....

Oh no you didn't. There are few people on these lists fit to carry his luggage. And yes, he WAS the frontman. He was the drummer until Peter Gabriel left. Then he became the singer, and was for about 20 some odd years, while also maintaining a great solo career. At least know what you're talking about before insulting a legend.

WOW, Towney got something right for a change, j/k, but you are absolutely right, NOBODY holds a candle to Plant.

Phoenix, you could not be so wrong. While I also enjoyed Freddie, your assessment of Zeppelin is way off track. Led Zeppelin was not a "one" person band, every member of Zep was as integral as the next, there wasn't one leader, they were a "group". To say that Page was the "star" is like saying that the "star" of Queen, was Freddie Mercury, which just isn't true, if it were, he would have left the band and struck out on his own.

Freddie was great, but no one can touch Plant, or Zeppelin, for that matter, they will always be the epitome of the greatest rock "group" of all time.

DVG, in your opinion, what makes Plant a better frontman than Mercury? I'm curious what criteria you use to justify that statement.
