The Youtube Music Thread, Oh My How Original...

Post by NightWatchman » Sun Feb 26, 2012 11:23 pm

I looked through like 9 years of threads and didn't see another thread like this, so sorry if it exists already. The idea is to just find a youtube music video that you like, whether it's an all time favorite, one you hate or just one that is perpetually stuck in your head, present it and let others either enjoy it, shit on it or discuss it. I'm going to start with a song that's stuck in my head:

Yea Yea Yeas' "Maps"

At no point did I claim this to be original idea. Just somthing I hadn't seen in this forum.

Sure, why not?

This song was stuck in my head for like, two solid months after first seeing the Assassin's Creed: Revelations trailer.

Mission accomplished.

For a second, I thought those were the same girl. Damn that girl could play a piano, that was awesome and so damn fast. I like that chick's electric violin, they're so cool looking. Dubstep violin, haha...

endless, your video of the piano player reminded me of this video:

endless is a girl after my own heart posting up Megadeth like that.

What did you think of the remake with Christina Scabbia?

Hmm... I'm a guy. lol It just happens that Garbage is my favorite band, so I have a lot of Shirley Manson signatures.

I prefer the remake. The original is good, but it feels a little flat without the backup vocals. Christina Scabbia has one hell of a voice.

Here I thought you were a girl...Not sure why, had nothing to do with your abundance of Shirley Manson...I think it had to do with that pic you posted in the WWE Boards "Members of WrestleView" thread, I thought you were the girl with Scott Steiner.

Anyway, I loved the remake when it first hit, now though, I tend to gravitate more to the original for my Tout Le Monde fix.

Classic metal song, three versions. Take your pick.

Original:

Fozzy:

Amon Amarth:

I'm not quite sure where I stand on this. Usually, I'm a huge fan of Amon Amarth, but their style just doesn't quite lend itself to this song. It's still a decent cover, but nothing spectacular. Fozzy, on the other hand, knocked it right the fuck out of the park on their cover, I think. Better than the original? Arguable, but I'm not sure.

So, this popped up in my "suggested for you" category. I'm just gonna....yeah, I'll leave this here. Also, for the inevitable double take when you see the video, yes: you DID read it right. I'm not sure if I should be offended by or applaud their sheer audacity to cover such a classic Maiden song, and whether or not I should be offended by or applaud the fact that they didn't butcher it horribly.
