Nucks, have you been keeping up with the latest AC news? Apparently there will be no new release this year as the team is taking this year to really get this game right.

I think we've both been calling for this for a few years and I expect the new game, which is said to be based in Ancient Egypt and will tell how the war between the Assassins and Templars began, to be great.

YAAAASSSS. I had not heard that, but YAAAASSSS. I wish I could high five you right now. That's exactly what we were both clamoring for.

Indeed. Syndicate was not a bad addition to me, but them taking an extra year to fully flesh out the game is a smart move. I think Unity is still fresh in some people's minds and it really tarnished the brand.

It really did. Poor Syndicate didn't have a chance, even as good as it was. Too many were just fed up with the series and there were many more like us that begged Ubisoft to take a break. It's a step in the right direction for them to really take their time with this one.

I like the system that's in place for Call of Duty. They have three teams all working on a game simultaneously. Each game is in production for 3 years, but because they have 3 games in development at once, they can still do annual releases without impacting the quality.

Ubisoft probably isn't in a position to do that, so good that they've finally held back on release dates.

An every other year or every two year release for the games can do nothing but good.

If nothing else, it will give them time to thoroughly test the game and iron out any bugs without needing more patches than a punk rocker's vest.

Indeed. Unity had so many damn bugs and game breaking glitches.

Egypt as a setting should be interesting and this will be the oldest setting to date for an AC game. Japan during the time of the samurai would be another fun entry and maybe one taking place during the Spanish-American War could be some other fun settings.

Nucks if you have to cash to spare, I highly recommend picking up the Sydicate DLC, Jack the Ripper. Interesting AC spin on the real life brutal murders.

I bought it a while back. Never got a chance to play it yet, though. But I do have it! Thanks for that, now I'm eager to play it.

The gameplay differences are enough to keep you interested and, mild spoiler warning here,

You play almost the entire campaign as Evie.

The ending of the Ripper DLC is good and sad at the same time. Good work from Ubisoft on this one.

It is now a little weird that no AC game will be released this year, I got used to the almost yearly releases. The movie coming out should be an interesting watch and I'm curious how they will tie it with the game for next year, as all AC media is connect and has some impact on each other.

What do we think?

I can vouch for the director, going by his previous this film should be legit.

I am cautiously optimistic about it. The good part about the AC series and this movie is that there really isn't one central character, which in a way gives the movie more freedom and flexibility in what direction they can go.

Video Game movies just have such a shoddy reputation, even Warcraft seems to be getting panned out of the gate. This one, especially given the hate and apathy that AC games have been getting since Unity, really needs to be tremendous out of the gate to do anything more than flounder at the box office.

Also, it will be interesting to see where this character fits into the Assassin's Creed lore.

So we knew there wouldn't be a 2016 main series release, but apparently 2017 might not have one either.

Fine by me. Give them as much time as they need to work on the game.
