The Super Mario Maker Super Funtime Thread

Post by El Canuck » Fri Oct 09, 2015 8:28 pm

So, while in the city today I finally picked up Super Mario Maker and I'm having a blast already. Even with the bare bones tools they give you to start, I'm already going wild making levels. My first to be uploaded is: 095A-0000-0099-6E35

I made this thread so that anyone else here with the game who wants to share their own levels so we can all try them out or even just talk about the game itself, can do so without it being lost in the regular games thread. Let's get sharing those levels!

You can unlock stuff faster with a few steps.

When you get the notification that new stuff will be delivered tomorrow, make a 10x10 square of blocks, then just the Multi-Select and Copy tool to lay down the huge grid of blocks repeatedly. Do this for about a minute, and you should receive a notice saying Your Shipment Arrived sooner Than Expected.

Use the new stuff, get the notice that stuff has shipped, repeat.

That's helpful. Does this also deliver the SMB3 and SMW options early too?

No problem. Before the Day 1 Patch, there was no way to accelorate the process. After the patch, it's based off Blocks/tiles places, which is why the copy/paste method works.

I'll just grab the code for your second level, and follow ya. This way I can keep tabs on your levels.

And one more note: You can make your levels longer by dragging that circle near the end goal/flag/itembox to the right.

Yeah, I only figured that out after uploading those two levels.

Yours are quite good, the SMW ship one is really friggin difficult.

It was more difficult than I intended. It was my first upload.

I wish I had timed out the Star Power a bit better, so you couldn't reach Bowser with it.

You kids sound like you're having a blast. Good for you. Are you running across any people making insane Mario levels that make you want to choke a bitch?

I've played a few really well done ones, one in particular was a whole level designed around a forest going through the four seasons that I thought was very well done. Another was an intricate ghost house. In terms of ball breaking difficulty, there's definitely an urge by some to try and replicate Kazio-level difficulty levels. Thankfully, you can see the map beforehand and determine which are Kazio replicas and avoid them.

That does sound like a delightful, fun time. Yay Nintendo for making games for dumb, stupid (in the good way) fun

Some dude named Panga has a habit of making very precise levels. He made one that took him 9 hours to beat. 9 hours of attempts to upload it.

I hate those damn level types. Yes, it's well crafted, but when you have to follow a ludicrously tight script of events like that with zero room for error it takes all the fun out of it for me.

Like if it takes you 9 hours to beat your own level, you've made it too hard

Got level #3 uploaded: 1BF0-0000-00A0-AEB6.

I had a lot of fun setting up the various trampolines and music note boxes here. Everything has a place and purpose and keeps you on your toes.

I had to use the spiky shell hat in order to get through most of the level, haha. The Spiney at the end kept getting me after it bounced off the music block.
