So, I'm caught up through Day 7. Falling behind has been really painful to try and catch up on. I want to be ready to go for the Finals this weekend. Luckily only one more show left and I can probably get Day 8 done tomorrow, then hopefully Day 9 either Wednesday or Thursday, Day 10 whenever.

I saw a lot of praise for Day 7, thought that was kind of odd. Suzuki/Styles was pretty freaking awesome (not better than Naito/Styles for me), but everything else was just sort of there imo. Fale/Honma was good, Nakamura/Ishii was fine for what it was but Days 4 and 5 were definitely better imo.

Goto/Naito was AWESOME. Total Naito mark at the moment.

The Stardust Genius is peaking at the right time to repeat; that's for sure.

I polished off Day 7 today, and Styles/Suzuki certainly was a riot. It was so delightfully absurd. Whole show up to that had been good, but they definitely jumped the shark with this one. It's not that they did so much that nobody could follow it. It's that both Nagata/Shibata & Nakamura/Ishii followed the same pattern of shrugging off damage just for fun, countering signature spots time and again, and kicking out of things in a comical manner. That's a fine strong style formula, but trotting out three of them in a row, especially with the best one first, was just deflating. The matches were fine, but they just didn't have any real estate to carve out their own identities. Show would have benefited from a reshuffle that would offer more dynamics in presentation.

Depending on your definition of "soon", unless he's actually repeating as G1 winner, it'll be a while. It would take a seismic shift for AJ Styles to lose the title before Wrestle Kingdom, and an even bigger shift for a dirty gaijin to walk out of Wrestle Kingdom as IWGP Heavyweight Champion. The Intercontinental belt could be his for the taking, though....

Well, I think Naito is getting a Title Shot before WKIX (as he beat Styles Day 4) and let's not forget he beat Okada the next night on Day 5. I'm not sure he goes to the IC Title scene, if they wanted to do that, at least in the interim, he'd have been in Fale's section.

And Naito is just breaking my heart. :(

May I just make one request. Since I haven't seen Day 10 yet and am 1/2 way through Day 9, could anyone that talks about the G1 Final that was determined today use the Spoiler tag? I know I'm not the only one in this situation.

Jason's the only one that's caught up, I believe, and he's just popping in to post links. We're all in that same boat.

I'm close. 1/2 way through Day 9. I'm not sure who is on top in Block A though I have a guess at this point. Pretty decisive match on Day 8.

These were results from Day 8, which include a full scoreboard at the end of that show.

The Day 10 match layout for the card is really bad.

Curious, anyone want to do a ranking system for the top 10 matches of the G1? I wouldn't mind going back to replay some of this. Though to make it the most efficient we'd have to Timestamp when the matches occur on whatever Day they are.

I'm watching some of the shows as individual match files, so time-stamping would be difficult. Putting together a top 10 sounds like fun, though.
