OH MY GOD. The last match in the block phase of the G1 is going to be Okada/Nakamura.

Have to think that Okada/Nakamura is going to be determinative on which one of them wins their block.

Okada's not winning his block, so if either block has a roadblock match rather than a decision match, it's B Block

I do think that Okada ending 2nd is a legitimate possibility.

Sure, and if he ends up second it will be by one of them keeping the other from going first, the way I see it. I just don't see their block being either/or. Now Styles/Tanahashi? That's a decision match assed decision match

And if Nakamura's last match is against Okada, it's just a weird thing if he ultimately wins the G1 because I would imagine he would lose in the G1 to Okada, to then get the rematch win. Something weird is going to happen in Block B, I'm not sure what it's going to be, but it's going to be weird. UNLESS, Nakamura wins the G1 and Okada drops the title before WK. That's always possible I guess.

The most fun possibility would be an already eliminated Nakamura beats Okada to keep him from winning B Block. They absolutely would *HAVE* to wrestle at KOPW for the IWPG Heavyweight Title

Yea, that would be interesting. Just looking at Block B, I don't think Nakamura is winning the G1, the Nakamura/Tanahashi prediction is in play but I think it is more unlikely at this stage.

After watching Dominion I'm still super high on Naito. I've been riding him since the New Japan Cup so I'm staying on the bandwagon. But whether he wins the G1 Climax or not I feel really bad for whatever asshole he faces in the Tokyo Dome

I have been dicking around with a spreadsheet for picking every G1 match, if anyone wants it I can post the link to it from VOW. Here's my standings:

A Block
A.J. Styles - 12
Bad Luck Fale - 6
Doc Gallows - 4
Hiroshi Tanahashi - 14
Hiroyoshi Tenzan - 8
Katsuyori Shibata - 10
Kota Ibushi - 12
Tetsuya Naito - 12
Togi Makabe - 6
Toru Yano - 6

B Block
Hirooki Goto - 12
Karl Anderson - 10
Kazuchika Okada - 14
Michael Elgin - 8
Satoshi Kojima - 4
Shinsuke Nakamura - 16
Tomoaki Honma - 2
Tomohiro Ishii - 8
Yuji Nagata - 10
Yujiro Takahashi - 6

Final

Hiroshi Tanahashi (Block A winner) v. Shinsuke Nakamura (Block B winner)

Third Place

Kota Ibushi (Block A runner-up) v. Kazuchika Okada (Block B runner-up)

Biggest Upset:

Night 1 for Block B, I had Michael Elgin beat Kazuchika Okada, it's Elgin's first night, think they'll want to establish him as a really big deal and threat for the rest of the tournament.

I'd been thinking about doing something similar and now you've gone and motivated me, Red so here's my prediction:

A Block

Tetsuya Naito - 12 Points (wins on tiebreaker)
AJ Styles - 12 Points
Hiroshi Tanahashi - 10 Points
Kota Ibushi - 10 Points
Bad Luck Fale - 10 Points
Katsuyori Shibata - 10 Points
Togi Makabe - 10 Points
Hiroyoshi Tenzan - 6 Points
Doc Gallows - 6 Points
Toru Yano - 4 Points

B Block

Yuji Nagata - 12 Points (wins on tiebreaker)
Kazuchika Okada - 12 Points
Shinsuke Nakamura - 10 Points
Hirooki Goto - 10 Points
Tomohiro Ishii - 10 Points
Yujiro Takahashi - 10 Points
Satoshi Kojima - 10 Points
Karl Anderson - 8 Points
Michael Elgin - 4 Points
Tomoaki Honma - 4 Points

Final

Tetsuya Naito over Yuji Nagata

I've been on the Naito bandwagon all year so I'm not getting off now, and I believe in Blue Justice o7

I don't think there's going to be a 3rd place match this year so I'm not going to predict that.

As for biggest upsets, I think Honma wins two matches: His final day match against Takahashi (which couldn't be more obviously set up for it), and he wins one of his main event matches, and I'm taking the one against...Nakamura

Biggest A Block upset I have is Tanahashi dropping a match to Doc Gallows in Morioka

I do love me some Naito, so I hope you are right. I had Nagata start off strong as well but had him fall off the pace. Ended up with Nagata beating Goto to set up an IC Title match.

For Block A's Final Night:

Bad Luck Fale def. Toru Yano
Katsuyori Shibata def. Doc Gallows
Hiroyoshi Tenzan def. Tetsuya Naito
Kota Ibushi def. Togi Makabe
Hiroshi Tanahashi def. AJ Styles

For Block B's final night:

Tomohiro Ishii def. Michael Elgin
Tomoaki Honma def. Yujiro Takahashi
Karl Anderson def. Satoshi Kojima
Yuji Nagata def. Hirooki Goto
Shinsuke Nakamura def. Kazuchika Okada

With Naito's heelish antics of late, I think him getting rolled up by Tenzan when he doesn't expect it is something that could be in play.

I thought about having Naito beat out Tanahashi but decided against it. Have Ibushi going far because he seems like someone they are anointing for the future (and had him beat Tanahashi as well). Really considered Tanahashi defeating Nakamura to get him his 2nd G1 and have Tanahashi challenge Okada against at WK10 but ultimately decided against it. I still think that's a legit possible direction for them.

So essentially, I had Ibushi beat Styles and Tanahashi, lose to Naito but win the tiebreaker over all 3 of them since he was the only one to beat Tanahashi. I had Ibushi trip up over the stumbling blocks and had him lose to Bad Luck Fale, Shibata and Yano as his "learning experience" in this G1.
